Presentations and Sessions

Room Specifications

Attention session presenters: we have received a list of available rooms and tech specs from our facility contacts. They are listed below, and will updated to reflect more accurate information. PLEASE plan your session accordingly -- if you don't NEED the main discussion room, for example, don't schedule yourself into it.

  • Main Room - "How To" Sessions. Stadium style, 200 person capacity - projector available
  • ROOM 1 - "Podcasting and Education / Journalism" Stadium style, 60 person capacity - projector available
  • ROOM 2 - "Misc." Stadium style, 60 person capacity - projector available
  • Break-Out Room - Group Discussions rooms - No Presentations - just open discussions on different subjects. Flat room, 50 person capacity

Session Ratings

Presenters, please indicate in your session listings any and all prerequisites. Suggested tags:

  • (N)- for people new to web media or people who want to start podcasting/blogging/vlogging
  • (I)- for people who have been podcasting/blogging/vlogging for a while and are looking to improve their existing shows
  • (A)- for everyone, regardless of where they are in the new media spectrum

Please also indicate in the session title if it's narrowly targeted, for example, Video Blogging with Final Cut Pro.

How to Add a Session to the Schedule

Yes, this can be confusing, but it IS do-able -- and yes, by you.

  • First, find the time slot you want to present in.
  • Then look at the sessions NEAR the spot you're getting ready to fill.
  • Then, click Edit Page
  • Scroll down and you'll see the schedule. It's in table form, which means lots of vertical lines: | . Don't get too freaked.
  • Find the session and the time slot.
  • Find which room you want by counting lines over from the first room.
  • Add your session to the schedule
  • Preview to make sure it's in the right place; change if needed
  • Save, and voila! You're a presenter!

If you need help, please email us!

The Law of Two Feet

Simply put: your experience at PodCampMidWest is what you want it to be. At any time, if you're not learning what you want to learn, if you're not getting what you need, you have every right to depart the session you're in and move to a different one, or none at all.

Who Can Speak at PodCampMidWest?

You can. Yes, you. Everyone can. Unlike a regular conference where speaking slots are allotted only to the highest bidder, Unconferences are by you, for you. If you don't see a session here that you want, create one and present it! Share what you know and your fellow participants will do the same.

What Constitutes a PodCamp Presentation?

50 minutes in a room of your peers. Help us all learn something new... The intelligence is in the room... discuss a topic that interests you... get everyone involved...

The purpose of the sessions is to educate and not to sell - if your presentation is going to be a sales pitch for your company/product we as the organizers reserve the right to move your session to a waiting list.

Session Recording

As much fun as attending PodCamp is, there are some who can't make it to the party for various reasons. As well, some people would love to grab an audio or video file of a session they were in, or one that was going on at the same time as one they were a part of. Please feel free to record the sessions and post them to the wiki or anywhere else for public use!
