PodCamp is a FREE 2-day Unconference experience dedicated to the sharing of information around new / social media (audio and video podcasting, blogging, more). The first PodCamp was held in Boston on Sept 9-10, and was organized by Chris Brogan, Christopher S. Penn, Bryan Person, Steve Garfield, Adam Weiss, and Susan (Sooz) Kaup, with help from dozens of others, and participants abound.

The main premise: share information.

Point two: share relationships and build community.

Third: grow the community out

PodCamp is open source as an idea. This means that YOU can choose to run a PodCamp. It's not easy to run, and it takes lots of effort, but if you want to start one in your area, you can. There are a few rules: you can't make money from the event. You can't be a standalone corporation pitching stuff under the PodCamp banner. Other than that, go nuts. Have a ball.

PodCamp is a neologism coined by Chris Penn as a distinction from BarCamp.

PodCamp is a BarCamp-style meetup for podcasters and listeners, bloggers and readers, and new media types of all stripes.

Why Podcamp? Because NewMediaCamp sounded silly, and BlogPodcastVlogNewMediaCamp was just stupid.
