815 Houston Mill Road

Atlanta, GA 30322

Map: http://legacymap.emory.edu/front?P_TYPE=DETAIL&P_BLDGID=2420

Room Specifications

Room specifications are listed below. PLEASE plan your session accordingly -- e.g., if you don't need large-screen projection capabilities for your session, or are targeting a niche interest, don't book yourself in the Governor's Hall!

  • Governor's Hall - capacity 200, projection screen with laptop connection available, mics and PA system, wifi accessible
  • Ward Room - capacity 12, conference room style, wifi accessible, portable data projector (laptop connection) available and small screen for projection
  • Miller Room - capacity 20, conference room style, wifi accessible, portable data projector (laptop connection) available and small screen for projection
  • Library - capacity 12, conference room style, wifi accessible, no A/V or projection equipment

Note: The Library will be set up for informal break-out sessions/recordings all weekend. Don't schedule anything for that room unless you absolutely must have that space. There will be 5 condenser mics and a mixing board set up in the Library for anyone's use.

Session Ratings

Session leaders, please indicate in your session description any and all prerequisites. Suggested tags:

  • (N) - For people new to web media or people who want to start podcasting/blogging/vlogging
  • (I) - For people who have been podcasting/blogging/vlogging for a while and are looking to improve their existing shows
  • (A) - For anyone, regardless of where they are in the new media spectrum

Please also indicate in the session title if it's narrowly targeted, for example, Video Blogging with Final Cut Pro.

How to Add a Session to the Schedule

Yes, this can be confusing, but it IS do-able -- and yes, by you!

  • First, find the time slot you want to present in.
  • Then look at the sessions NEAR the spot you're getting ready to fill.
  • Then, click 'Edit Page'
  • Scroll down and you'll see the schedule. It's in table form, which means lots of vertical lines: | . Don't get too freaked out.
  • Find the session and the time slot.
  • Find which room you want by counting lines over from the first room.
  • Add your session to the schedule
  • This part cannot be over-stated: PREVIEW to make sure it's in the right place; change if needed
  • Save, and voila! You're a session leader!

If you need help, please email us.

Please do NOT move someone else's session. If there's a significant conflict, please contact one of the PodCamp Atlanta organizers off-wiki. Thanks.

Who Can Speak at PodCamp Atlanta?

You can. Yes, you. Everyone can. Unlike a regular conference where speaking slots are allotted only to the highest bidder, unconferences are by you, for you. If you don't see a session here that you want, create one and present it! Share what you know, and your fellow participants will do the same.

The Law of Two Feet

Simply put: your experience at PodCamp is what you want it to be. At any time, if you're not learning what you want to learn, if you're not getting what you need, you have every right to depart the session you're in and move to a different one, or none at all.

The Law of Null Space

You are very likely to learn the most in the spaces between sessions, at lunch, at breaks, etc. when you can just talk and hang out with people. Be ready! Have your portable digital recorder on, your business cards handy, your notebook out, and be ready to learn at the most unlikely times.

Types of Sessions and Presentations

  • Presentation: 30 minutes in a room of your peers. Help us all learn something new! The intelligence is in the room... discuss a topic that interests you and get everyone involved.
  • Lightning Talk: 5-minute impromptu talk in a quiet corner on a gem you've discovered and want to share.
  • Jam Session: 30 minutes of your acoustic music if you're a musician - let us hear you live! Be sure to bring some merch for a table in the corner.
  • Lightning Concert: 5 minutes of your best acoustic song whenever, wherever.
